Virgil's Tomb by Moonlight

Moonlight glows over the ancient tomb of the poet Virgil outside Naples, where the Roman poet Silius Italicus sits in tribute. Joseph Wright of Derby, famous for dramatic light, painted this view many times after his trip to Italy.
